Planned Giving
Homeless pets rely on the Oromocto and Area SPCA to rescue them and provide them healthy happy lives. The SPCA relies on its supporters to ensure that its life-saving work will continue. What is a "Planned Gift"?
Planned Gifts can come in many forms, but they all share a common characteristic in that the SPCA's use of the gift is deferred in your lifetime. You can make a more significant gift to the Oromocto and Area SPCA than you ever thought possible, while maximizing the financial and tax benefits to you, your estate, and your family. A planned gift is one of the most effective ways to ensure that the SPCA can carry on its mission of saving animals’ lives far into the future.
What is a "Planned Gift"?
A "planned gift" can come in many forms, but they all share a common characteristic in that the Oromocto and Area SPCA use of the gift is deferred in your lifetime. Planned gifts are an essential element in our continued mission to save over 700 cats, dogs, puppies and kittens each year and find them new, loving homes.
Everyone who makes a planned gift to the SPCA becomes a member of thePet Protectors Society and will be recognized (either by name or anonymously) as an essential supporter of the Oromocto and Area SPCA. Membership in the Pet Protectors Society is a wonderful way to evidence, both now and in the future, your love of animals and your commitment to their protection.
How Can I Become a Member of the Pet Protectors Society? Becoming a member is as easy as it is important, and there are many ways to do it:
- You can name the Oromocto and Area SPCA as a beneficiary of your estate through a will or trust document.
- You can make the Oromocto and Area SPCA a full or partial beneficiary of a life insurance or retirement plan.
- You can name the Oromocto and Area SPCA as a beneficiary of a transfer on a stock account.
Charitable Bequests
Protect the animals you love.
Your planned gift makes it possible to create a lasting partnership with the Oromocto and Area SPCA. You can make your bequest for a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate or specific assets from your estate. Bequests, like other gifts, can be designated for many purposes or given without restriction. Your first step, once you decide to leave a gift, is to contact your attorney to help you draw up your will.
The Percentage Bequest
A percentage bequest is a bequest of a certain percentage of your estate or of another asset. A percentage bequest to the Oromocto and Area SPCA designates that a specific percentage, anywhere from 1-100% of your estate, is left to the Oromocto and Area SPCA. The greatest advantage of this structure is that, as your estate increases in value over time, your gift will keep pace and your support for the shelter will grow.
The Residual Bequest
A residual bequest is a bequest of all or a portion of the remainder or residue of your estate after specific and other bequests have been distributed. By naming the Oromocto and Area SPCA as the beneficiary of this residue, you simplify the probate process and ensure that the government allocates the remainder of your estate as you see fit.
The Specific Bequest
A specific bequest is a bequest for a specific item or dollar amount.
