Volunteer

Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless. ~Sherry Anderson

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Oromocto & Area SPCA. We do understand that your time is valuable. Volunteering doesn't have to be a one-time experience. For many, it's a lifetime activity. Although we do not ask for a certain number of hours to be 'logged', volunteering does mean committing some time.

Due to our limited financial resources and the great demand for our services, our staff and animals rely on volunteers to work with us in many areas.

Special Events Volunteers

Each year, the Oromocto and Area SPCA organizes and participates in a number of events requiring volunteer assistance. Volunteers are needed to work at the events and sometimes participate in the organizing of the events.
Because each event is different, volunteer roles vary. Volunteers need to be comfortable working with the public, have good interpersonal skills, and be able to work with a minimum of supervision.

Animal Care Volunteering

Dog Walking, Dog and Cat Grooming. This is our primary "hands on" program where volunteers work directly with the animals. This program was developed to improve the quality of life for the dogs staying at the Shelter. A dog that is walked and has social interaction every day is healthier, happier, and more likely to be adopted.

Kennel Support Volunteer

This would involve cleaning of the dog kennels, cat kennels, general cleaning of the facilities, feeding & water duties.

General Maintenance

Seasonally, we will require volunteers to mow the lawn, general yard work, and general repairs & painting.

Foster Care Volunteers

Those people that are interested in becoming a Foster Home for animals that have some special needs, or to house 'overflow' animals are a big support to the OSPCA. If you are interested in becoming a Foster Home, your name will be passed on to the Foster Care Coordinator.
